What the assessment involves
A dyslexia or SpLD assessment looks at the pattern of your skills, not just whether reading is difficult. It uses standardised tests of literacy, phonological processing, working memory and processing speed alongside your educational history, so the report can explain where the difficulty lies and what support will help.

Using the report for DSA or at work
Disabled Students' Allowance applications require diagnostic evidence of a specific learning difficulty, and the report is written for that purpose. Your funding body and the needs assessor decide what support is agreed. For employees, the report supports conversations about reasonable adjustments with your employer or an Access to Work assessment.
